Frontiers of Functional Genomics ESF program
European Meeting on Next Generation Sequencing
August 29 - September 1, 2010
Leiden University Medical Center, The Netherlands
Next generation sequencing technologies enable high-throughput sequencing for a multitude of applications, including de novo sequencing, re-sequencing of genomic DNA, whole transcriptome sequencing, tag-based transcript sequencing, and metagenomics sequencing. Recent results show applications emerging in fields that are not immediately obvious, including evolution, environmental, forensics and archeology. While the second-generation technologies are being further improved, third-generation sequencing is already becoming available and utilized by pioneer researchers. The meeting aims at bringing together experts and pioneers in the field to present their technological and scientific advances to researchers interested in the applications of next generation sequencing. Invited speakers and talks selected from abstracts will feature in sessions on evolution, transcription, personalized genomes, diagnostics, bioinformatics, and new sequencing technologies. The meeting starts with hands-on computer practicals including 1000 Genome Browser and a pipeline from reads to report files. Young researchers are invited to join a special program. Abstract deadline: July 1st, 2010.
