Poster Information
Abstract: Artery of Percheron is an anatomical variant in which blood supply to the medial part of bilateral thalami is provided by a single arterial trunk arising from posterior cerebral artery.

So any pathological process involving the artery of Percheron will cause the arterial blood supply to both the thalami to be cutoff at the same time.
Summary: Acute infarct of the territory supplied by the artery of Percheron.References: 1. Matheus MG, Castillo M. Imaging of acute bilateral paramedian thalamic and mesencephalic infarcts. AJNR Am J Neuroradiol. 24 (10): 2005-8. AJNR Am J Neuroradiol (full text) - Pubmed citation
