Abstract: ISO 9001:2015 is an international process-based standard that specifies the requirements of a quality management system (QMS) used by organisation to demonstrate the ability to consistently provide products and services that meet customer and regulatory requirements. ISO 9001:2015 differs from other ISOs as this standard mainly focus on the continuous improvement of the management system, while its application can be applied in all sorts of organisations and not restricted to one particular organisation. To date, this standard consists of 10 clauses (e.g scope, normative reference, terms and definition, context of organisation, leadership, planning, support, operation, performance evaluation and improvement) which form the fundamental characteristics of quality management. It was first introduced in the year of 1987 and has been continuously reviewed and revised by International Organisation for Standardisation (ISO), as of now, it had been revised in 1994, 2000, 2008 and 2015. The revision was done to ensure that the standards are still relevant as business and industries grow, as well as to allow the ease of integration with other standards. Accreditation under ISO 9001:2015 involves the inspection of the organisation management system by an external audit and certification will be granted if there is no non-conformance identified. Implementing an effective and robust ISO 9001:2015 subsequently allows any organisations to adapt and respond to changing quality requirement, improve their decision making and promote continuous improvement for a better productivity.
