Abstract: The recent impact of the pandemic has shown the importance of the Indian Pharmaceutical Industry to the world, India has been one of the top producers and exporters of vaccines and essential medicines around the world, especially to the low and middle-income countries. The pharmacists of India are playing a central role in the healthcare sector of the country. They perform various activities like dispensing the right medicine, counseling patients, providing drug information, poison information, research, and development, production, QA/QC, regulatory authority, and academic and community services. Currently, India ranks third in terms of pharmaceutical production. Thus in recent years, it is necessary to create awareness among the citizen of the country regarding the roles and responsibilities of the pharmacy profession. Summary: Pharmacists play an important role in the healthcare system of India along with physicians, nurses, and paramedical experts.
