Abstract: ISO 17025:2017, General requirements for the competence of testing and calibration laboratories, is the international reference for laboratories carrying out testing and calibration activities around the world. This standard specifies the general requirements for the competence, impartiality and consistent operation of laboratories. The core of the laboratory activities is to produce valid results that are widely trusted. Laboratories that conformed to this standard are allowed to implement a sound quality system and demonstrate that they are technically competent in producing reliable results. The updated edition of ISO 17025 released in 2017, was developed in keeping with the latest changes in laboratory environment and work practices. The standard was revised to cover technical changes, vocabulary and developments in IT techniques, while taking into account the latest version of ISO 9001 on quality management. Laboratories already accredited to ISO 17025:2005 are required to transit to the new version within a three-year period from the publication date of the new standard.Summary: ISO 17025:2017 is an international accreditation standard for testing and calibration laboratories wanting to demonstrate their capacity to deliver trusted results.References: American National Standards Institute.
